What a wonderful Sangiovese is Vigna dell’Impero 2015
Only in special vintages certain wines are made, one of this is Vigna dell’Impero by Tenuta Sette Ponti. It is a 100% Sangiovese wine, that is only released in very special vintages, when the season allows for perfectly ripe and sane grapes. The vintage 2015 was hot in Tuscany and made some cooler area like Valdarno (province of Arezzo) benefit of high temperatures.
Vigna dell’Impero comes from a single vineyard with old vines, lying on a steep slope. It has a bright ruby red color with a garnet hue and has wonderful aromas on the nose: candied red cherry, dried flowers, earth and cinnamon. It is austere and elegant at the same time, with a refreshing and savory palate, fine tannins and very long finish. It is an outstanding wine, made in a limited quantity, and certainly has a potential for aging.
Tenuta Sette Ponti is more famous for a Supertuscan made with Cabernet, Merlot and Petit Verdot, Oreno, that is a very good wine as well.
