Visit Bolgheri and its vineyards, taste outstanding wines.
Sassicaia was released on the market in 1971 (vintage 1968) for the first time. It was the beginning of a revolution in Bolgheri. Cabernet Sauvignon was planted in place of Sangiovese and wine making process from Bordeaux was replicated to produce a style of wines absolutely new for Tuscany.
There are more than 50 wineries now producing fine wines in Bolgheri and Bolgheri is a new DOC of Italy (Denomination of controlled origin). Most of the wines are red and made with a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petit Verdot, Cabernet Franc and Syrah … some whites and rosés complete the range.
FULL DAY BOLGHERI TOUR
- I will introduce you to the geographical area of Bolgheri and will let you know all about the wines that are produced.
- You will visit 2 significant wineries and taste their wines
- You will have a typical lunch in a nice restaurant in Bolgheri and will pair Bolgheri wine with food.
- I’ll guide you during the whole tour and can reply to all of your questions and doubts.
- You’ll have the possibility to buy wines and I can advise on bargains or relevant labels.
